By attending Tallinn Bachata Experience, you agree to follow this Code of Conduct, which reflects our shared values of kindness, inclusivity and responsibility.

Respect Others

Tallinn Bachata Experience promotes values of respect, tolerance and kindness during all its events. Everyone participating commits to respecting these values in order to guarantee a safe space for all.

Our events are open to everyone, regardless of gender identity, ethnicity, sexual orientation, accessibility needs, physical appearance or religious beliefs. Therefore, no violence, intimidation or inappropriate acts or comments (misogynistic, sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic or otherwise degrading) will be allowed.

Any behavior or comments aimed at discriminating or intimidating another participant (whether directed at dancers, volunteers, teachers, artists, DJs or staff) can be reported to our designated Safe Contact. They will be available to listen and to take the necessary measures to ensure the well-being of all.

Tallinn Bachata Experience reserves the right to expel anyone displaying inappropriate behavior without refund. In case of violence or illegal acts, local authorities may be contacted.

Political Respect and Neutrality

Our community brings together people from many countries, cultures and backgrounds. To ensure the festival remains a welcoming space for all, Tallinn Bachata Experience is committed to political respect and neutrality. Participants are asked to:

• Avoid promoting or opposing any political entity or ideology.
• Refrain from political campaigning or debates inside festival spaces.

This ensures our events remain focused on dance, music and cultural exchange. Any disruption of this neutrality may result in removal from the event without compensation. We believe dance unites beyond politics, and our goal is to create a space where peace, connection and mutual respect take center stage.

Ethics on the Dance Floor

All dancers are kindly asked to respect the following principles:

• Consent is key: each participant has the right to refuse a dance at any time. Everyone has the right to say no to anything, anytime for any reason — and that's always okay!
• Respect your partner's comfort and boundaries:
  • Don't hold tighter than necessary or pull your partner closer than they indicate.
  • Avoid touching body areas that aren't part of the dance connection.
  • If your partner lets go of the embrace or wants more space — follow their lead and continue dancing respectfully.
  • Never insist on another dance if someone says no, looks tired or walks away.
• Personal hygiene: shower, use deodorant, brush your teeth and bring a change of clothes if needed.
• Participate in workshops at the appropriate level to ensure quality learning for everyone.
• Respect the teachers, their methods and their work.
• Be aware of your surroundings to avoid injuring others. Make space, apologize if you bump someone and prioritize your partner's comfort.
• No acrobatic or risky figures like lifts, tricks or unsafe dips on a social dance floor — these moves can be risky, especially without space, clear communication and mutual consent.

Sexual Harassment Policy

At Tallinn Bachata Experience, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for all participants. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of sexual harassment, misconduct or inappropriate behavior.

What constitutes sexual harassment? Sexual harassment includes, but is not limited to:

• Unwanted touching or physical contact.
• Inappropriate or sexual comments, jokes or gestures.
• Repeated requests for dances or personal attention after being declined.
• Sexual advances (verbal or non-verbal).
• Invasive or inappropriate questions about someone's body, appearance or personal life.
• Filming or photographing someone in a sexualized way.

Alcohol Consumption and Drugs

Enjoyment comes with responsibility.

• Alcohol may be consumed at our events, but participants are expected to do so responsibly. Please know your limits and keep the environment safe for yourself and others.
• Intoxicated, aggressive or unsafe behavior will not be tolerated.
• Our events are strictly drug-free: the use or possession of illegal substances is prohibited and will result in immediate removal.
• If you have consumed alcohol, please do not drive. Our staff can assist in finding safe transport options if needed.

Respect the Venue and Staff

Our events are hosted in cultural venues that deserve care and respect. Please:

• Treat the venue, furniture and equipment responsibly.
• Wear your festival wristband at all times — without it, access may be denied.
• Follow the no-smoking rule (including e-cigarettes) indoors, except in designated smoking areas.
• Respect hotel guests and neighbors during your stay, particularly with noise in common areas.

Reporting Incidents

If you experience or witness harassment, misconduct or unsafe behavior:

• Contact a Safe Contact team member on-site.
• Email us at info@tallinnbachata.com.

Reports will be taken seriously, treated confidentially and handled with care. You may choose whether or not you want action to be taken.

Consequences

Tallinn Bachata Experience may:

• Issue a warning.
• Remove the person from the event without refund.
• In cases of violence or illegal activity, contact the authorities.
